Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti has made a comment about their chances of going all the way in the Champions League.

In the Champions League this season, the Nerazzurri have done well, defeating opposition like Barcelona and Porto to advance to the competition's quarter-final. They take on Benfica for a place in the semi-final.

Inter has won the Champions League three times, two back-to-back titles in 1964 and 1965, and then another in 2010 and Zanetti has said they will make an effort to win the competition.

Inter can win the Champions League

Before the Nerazzurri's Champions League quarter final first leg match against Benfica this evening, Zanetti spoke to UEFA TV about the team's desire to win the entire competition and his admiration for Benfica as a rival.

To win the Champions League this year, Inter still has a long way to go. The two-leg against Benfica, which begins today at Stadium da Luz, will present a significant challenge for the Nerazzurri.

Inter will face either AC Milan or Napoli in the next round if they advance to the semi-final. If the Nerazzurri succeed in reaching the competition's final, they will be aware of what to expect because it will either be Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or Chelsea.

Zanetti says Inter are starting to dream

After beating teams like Barcelona and Porto to get where they are currently, Zanetti isn't concealing the fact that Inter are beginning to dream.

Speaking in an Interview, Zanetti said, “We know that we’re up against a great side. Benfica are doing very well in this competition, they’re always an adversary to be respected.”

“They have quality players like Otamendi [who is suspended this evening], a leader in defence who I know well because he’s Argentine.”

“They have a winning mentality, which they’re also showing in their league, this is certainly a tricky match for us.”

“For our part, we hope to go as far as possible, we know that it won’t be easy because the Champions League is a competition where every deal matters.

“But we’ll try to do our best and go all the way.

Meanwhile, Mazzola also believes his former team can win the tournament this season due to their performance from the group stage.
