The statement comes after the Atlas Lions' historic victory over Brazil in a friendly match on Saturday, which saw them beat the top-ranked team in the world for the first time in their history.
Regragui has been emphasized the importance of winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to his players, as the team has not lifted the title since 1976.
The coach has urged his team to focus on the upcoming 2023 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Ivory Coast.
"I told my players that we cannot be kings of the world before being kings of our continent," Regragui said.
"When I say we must win the African Cup, they say that I am exaggerating. I must be careful, so I say we are not going to play for a win but we only play for happiness."
Morocco has been making steady progress in recent years, becoming the first African side to reach the last four of a World Cup in 2018.
Their victory over Brazil has further bolstered their confidence and raised expectations for the team.
"I told my players that we have to be ready because the AFCON is waiting for us. We have to work and be patient. We must not dream too much,” he explained.
However, Regragui is cautious about getting carried away with the win and has reminded his players that there is still a long way to go.
"Now we are going to celebrate but it's a long way to go. We must not get on fire," he said.
Morocco's place in the 2023 AFCON was recently confirmed after a 2-2 draw between South Africa and Liberia meant neither country could catch Regragui's team in Group K.
The Atlas Lions have recorded two wins against Liberia and South Africa so far, with Zimbabwe being suspended by FIFA for government interference.
