The 19-year-old represents Germany at the international level but he could have played for the three-time African champions.

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has explained why he chose to represent Germany ahead of Nigeria and England.

Musalia plays for the German national team, with 20 appearances to his name since he made his debut in March 2021.

Musiala is German but things could have been different

However, things could have been different as Musiala was also eligible to play for England and Nigeria.

Musiala was eligible to play for the Three Lions after representing them at the youth level. He could also have played for the Super Eagles star through his father.

However, Musiala opted for Germany, his country of birth, stating he picked the four-time world champions because he felt comfortable with the decision.

“I could have also played for Nigeria, which also crossed my mind. And I thought about it well. I had good talks with both of them [ Nigeria & Germany]. So it really just came down to me and where I'd feel the most comfortable. So I decided to go with Germany, Musiala said in a video.

Musiala’s decision to choose Germany has worked out well so far. The 19-year-old was one of the stars of the 2022 World Cup despite Die Mannschsaft’ stage exit.
