U20 World Cup: 'Flying Eagles can neutralize Italy's armoury' - Ladan Bosso says

The fixture slated for Estadio Malvinas Argentina in Mendoza will kick off at 7 pm Nigerian time.

Ahead of Nigeria's heavyweight clash with Italy's U20 side, Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has expressed confidence that his team can get a positive result on Wednesday.

The two-time finalists will take on the European side in their second group D matchday of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Italy leading Group D ahead of Wednesday's game

Their opening games of the tournament saw Nigeria's Flying Eagles come from behind to secure a 2-1 win over tournament debutants Dominican Republic thanks to an own goal and a match-winner by Samson Lawal.

Later on Sunday, Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei scored twice and assisted the third goal as Italy earned a thrilling 3-2 win over Brazil, at the Estadio Malvinas Argentina in Mendoza.

The win saw the 2017 U-20 World Cup bronze medallists, overtake the Flying Eagles at the top of Group D, on goals scored.

Confident Bosso says Nigeria can overpower Italy

Victory for either side on Wednesday is bound to seal knockout round qualification for the winner, with Nigeria's head coach stating that they would apply lessons learnt in their last victory, against the Europeans.

“We stayed back after our match against the Dominican Republic to watch Italy match against Brazil, and we took a lot of notes from there,” Bosso in an interview said ahead of Wednesday's encounter.

”The Italians have the midfield machinery to outrun any team that is flustered by their pace and organization, but we will know how to deal with that.

“We have the boys who can neutralize their mortal armoury and deliver some blows of our own. Wednesday’s encounter will be interesting. We will respect them but we don’t fear any team at this championship.” he added.
