Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have bolstered the defense, while Liverpool broke their transfer record to sign midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

The next focus is replacing centre-back Jarell Quansah, who moved to Leverkusen for £35m. Although Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konate remain, doubts persist over Gomez’s recurring injuries, and Konate, whose contract expires next summer, has been linked with a departure.

According to The Sun, Liverpool have identified Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as their prime target and plan to table a £40m bid for the 25-year-old, who led Palace to their best-ever Premier League season and FA Cup success in 2024/25.

Arsenal are also keen on the centre-back, who is in the final year of his contract and attracted significant bids from Newcastle and Tottenham last season.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are still searching for a striker and are expecting a swift resolution in their pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
