Toni Kroos' one-year contract extension with Real Madrid has been officially announced by the club.

It was anticipated that Kroos would depart Madrid after completing the £113 million acquisition of Jude Bellingham last week. Still, the Spanish giants were anxious to stay with Kroos, and he has already signed a new contract.

Kroos moved to Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League the year before while playing for the German powerhouse.

Since then, he has helped Los Blancos win the biggest prize in European football four times during the club's heyday.

He has now committed another one-year to Madrid, with his new contract set to expire in 2024.

Romano Fabrizio also confirmed on Twitter saying, “Official, confirmed. Toni Kroos has signed a new deal at Real Madrid valid until June 2024 as it was already completed in March.”

Under Zinedine Zidane, he won the Champions League in 2016, 2017, and 2018, and has five Club World Cup titles with Madrid and three each of LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Copa.

Kroos has played 417 games for Madrid over the course of nine seasons, solidifying his position in the middle.

Modric's future still uncertain

Modric’s contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the month with his future still up in the air.

However, according to Daily Mail reports, he is now expected to sign a new contract after allegedly turning down a hefty offer from the Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal.

With the next generation of Madrid players starting to emerge, Carlo Ancelotti can now rely on Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Fede Valverde for next season.

Madrid are looking to extend Modric’s contract for one more year after Kroos' contract extension was confirmed.

The club are hoping they can groom the new set of midfielders at the club before saying their farewell at the end of next season.
