Roma was unable to get past Bologna as they played a goalless draw which further dented their hope for Champions League football.

Roma were coming from the back of a defeat to Inter last week as they continue their chase for European football. They were hoping to get back to winning ways against Bologna but were unable to go three points clear of Atalanta.

Both teams created little chances in the first half and were unable to get the first goal and the second half also came and went without any clear-cut chances from both sides as the game ended in a goalless draw.

As it happened

Bologna manager Thiago Motta made three changes to his side that drew with Sassuolo last weekend while Jose Mourinho who was recently banned for three games made six changes to his side that lost to Inter Milan last weekend.

The first half started and both teams could not get the game going. The home side got the first chance of the game when Riccardo Orsolinias tried his luck with a shot from long range towards the roof of the net. Mile Svilar is alert and makes a save. Bologna forced their opponents to concede a corner.

Roma also got a chance for themselves but could not take their chance. Andrea Belotti gets on the end of a defence-splitting pass inside the box and immediately directs a low shot towards the middle of the goal, but Lukasz Skorupski makes a great save.

The second half continued the same way they left off but did not create many chances as the game got to its final stage.

Towards the closing stage of the game, Roma got a chance through Tammy Abraham. The striker latched onto a precise lofted pass into the penalty area and produced a header at goal, but his attempt low to the middle of the target fails to beat Lukasz Skorupski, who makes a sensational save.

Roma were unable to take their opportunity to move closer to the top four as they remained sixth in the league table, six points behind AC Milan.
