Xabi Alonso's decision to start Kylian Mbappé in the semi-final against PSG has been met with widespread criticism in Spain following the 4-0 drubbing. The game was effectively over after just 24 minutes, with Real Madrid already three goals down.

While young Gonzalo García had been excelling as the main striker throughout the Club World Cup, Real's new coach moved him to the right wing to accommodate Mbappé in the central attacking role. The result? "Collective suicide," according to leading Spanish newspaper Marca.

"All the progress made during this Club World Cup has been undone, because PSG are a fearsome, unified, and dazzling opponent," Marca noted, criticizing Real Madrid's performance, suggesting Mbappé's inclusion brought out all of their worst habits.

Kylian Mbappé, as is often the case, appeared isolated in a bubble of questionable egotism, refusing to challenge opponents and seemingly unwilling to put in the necessary effort for the team.

Mbappe blasted by media

"A hammer blow to teach them a lesson," declared AS, via Sports, equally stunned by Alonso's decisions.

Sport, meanwhile, spoke of a "global humiliation," recalling instances where Luis Enrique had pleaded with Mbappé to contribute defensively during his time at PSG. Of course, to no avail.

Only after his departure did Paris truly become a team and start winning major trophies. Symbolically, since Mbappé arrived at Real Madrid, the club hasn't won anything.

"Luis Enrique has shown Kylian Mbappé who was right. He arrived in the United States hoping to be in the Ballon d'Or conversation. Today, nobody is talking about that," commented AS.

On the El Chiringuito program, one pundit went even further, demanding the Frenchman's departure if he doesn't show more respect for his club. "If Vinicius or Kylian Mbappé don't change their attitude, one of them will have to leave. They have betrayed Real Madrid."

Xabi Alonso was clear upon his arrival: "Everyone has to run for the ball!" A pious hope...
