Simba SC defender vows to play fearlessly against Al Ahly as the African Football League debuts in Dar es Salaam.

The long-anticipated inaugural African Football League (AFL) is set to captivate football fans as it kicks off on October 20 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The excitement is palpable, and the stage is set for a thrilling showdown as Simba SC, the host team, takes on African football royalty, Al Ahly SC from Egypt.

The AFL, a groundbreaking competition featuring Africa's top clubs, including reigning champions Al Ahly SC, has captured the imagination of football fans across the continent.

The clash between Al Ahly and Simba SC is a marquee matchup that is already generating enormous buzz.

Che Malone Fondo, a 24-year-old Cameroonian who joined Simba SC at the beginning of the season, exudes confidence ahead of the pivotal game.

"We just need to prepare for a big and difficult game. We need to give our all to be victorious. If we play like children, we will be treated as children. We will need to play like men and we will give our best," he said.

Malone recognizes the magnitude of the match, not just for Simba as a team but for Tanzanian football as a whole.

"Victory doesn’t come easy but with a good mentality and good preparation, we will do well. Everyone in the team is prepared," he added.

In assessing the challenge posed by Al Ahly, who sit six positions above Simba in the football hierarchy, Malone encouraged his team to see themselves as equals.

"Simba is a big club in Africa too. They might be six positions above us, but it doesn't mean we can't do the job. If we see them like elephants, they will surpass us, but we need to look at them as us, and we will be victorious," he noted.

Che Malone's arrival from Cameroonian champions Cotonsport has brought a wealth of experience and accolades. He was named the league's Most Valuable Player last season, and his impact on the Simba defense has been substantial.

He also expressed his admiration for life in Dar es Salaam, emphasizing the passion Tanzanians have for the game.

"Everyone here loves football. It is crazy, especially on the day of the game; everywhere is just about football," he mentioned."They welcomed me with a lot of love, and I easily integrated."

His partnership with Congolese international Hennock Inonga in Simba's backline has been solid, providing stability and resilience.

Malone now hopes to add another remarkable chapter to his Simba journey in the upcoming AFL clash with Al Ahly.

"We can only win with their support. They should come and bring the noise, which will give us the courage to play and win for them. They should come prepared to shout from start to finish," he said, as he encouraged the passionate "red and white army" to fill the national stadium.

With both teams ready to give their all in this historic clash, football enthusiasts are in for an unforgettable spectacle on October 20 as the African Football League finally takes center stage in Dar es Salaam.
