Shabana winger Ezekiah Omuri has reiterated his desire for a long-term stay at the club after being voted as the FKF Premier League player of matchweek 15.

Omuri was the man of the match as Shabana recorded their biggest win of the season, following a 4-1 thrashing of Sofapaka on Saturday.

The MOFA Academy graduate scored one goal and provided an assist for the Glamour Boys, earning plenty of plaudits, and he beat off competition from Gor Mahia’s Austin Odhiambo, Hassan Beja of AFC Leopards and Michael Apudo of Bandari to earn the most votes from fans as the player of the week.

“Thanks to all fans who voted for me as the player of the week. The Shabana fans make you realise how big this club is. I want to stay here for a very long time. I feel at home and this club is perfect for me,” said Omuri.

Omuri scored from distance to give Shabana a fifth-minute lead before Brian Michira curled in a great strike to extend Tore Bobe’s lead in the 38th minute.

He then set up Wycliffe Mutua for 3-0 after 63 minutes before squaring the ball to Nehemiah 'Neymar' Onchiri to score the fourth goal to give his side their biggest win since their top-flight promotion.

The highly-rated 17-year-old winger joined Shabana from MOFA at the start of this season and made his Premier League debut against Kenya Police in September, becoming the youngster player to turn out for Tore Bobe in the top flight.

Omuri signed a seven-year contract when he joined Shabana and it appears the player and club’s desires are aligned given his commitment to stay on, on the long haul.

It was a good week for Shabana who were also voted club of the week with coach Caleb Aringa being selected as the week’s best tactician.

Shabana will hope to maintain the momentum when they play away to Bidco United in their next match on Thursday.
