Shabana FC midfielder calls for fan support as the team battles relegation with six crucial matches left in the season.

Shabana FC midfielder Justine Omwando has called on fans to rally behind the team as they face a challenging end to the season with hopes to avoid relegation.

With just six matches left, the stakes could not be higher for the Kisii-based squad.

During a recent interaction with the club's media, Omwando emphasized the critical role of fan support in their ongoing struggle to remain in the topflight.

"We are working hard to make the fans happy and we’re going in the right direction. Please keep supporting us and believing in us," he stated.

The urgency of their situation was underscored by a significant victory last weekend where Tore Bobe clinched a hard-fought 1-0 win against Sofapaka.

The win not only boosted their morale but also their standing, as they leapfrogged over Muhoroni and Sofapaka to 15th place on the 18-team table. Both teams now have 28 points, but Tore Bobe's superior goal difference has given them the edge.

The triumph was particularly noteworthy as it marked a consistent improvement from their first encounter with Sofapaka at the Homabay Stadium where they secured a convincing 4-1 victory.

The latest match saw Brian Michira becoming the hero by scoring the only goal at the 55th-minute mark, ensuring his team secured all three points.

This season has been a rollercoaster for Shabana having recorded seven wins, seven draws, and 14 defeats. The same record is mirrored by their rivals Sofapaka setting the stage for a neck-and-neck fight for survival.

Looking ahead, Shabana’s schedule is not going to be easy as they are set to face several tough opponents, including reigning champions Gor Mahia away on May 11.

This will be followed by matches against FC Talanta, Kariobangi Sharks, AFC Leopards, and Bidco United, before concluding their season with an away game against Murang’a Seal on June 23.
