Shabana FC clinched a 1-0 victory over Tusker on Friday, but coach Okoth expresses stress over the impending FIFA break, fearing it will disrupt their momentum

Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth has expressed his apprehensions regarding the upcoming FIFA international break, despite securing a crucial 1-0 victory against former league champions Tusker FC.

The win, courtesy of Vincent Nyabuto's header off a Rogers Aloro free-kick, marked Shabana's first triumph of the season after a challenging five rounds.

As Okoth reflected on the hard-fought victory against Tusker, he acknowledged the stress that has accompanied the beginning of the league for Shabana.

"The league has just begun for us, and securing a win has been stressful, but I appreciate the fans, and this victory is a gift to them," said Okoth.

The coach's candid admission provides insight into the pressure that accompanies the early stages of the season for teams striving to make an impact.

Despite the challenges, Okoth expressed concern about the upcoming FIFA international break disrupting the momentum that Shabana had worked hard to establish.

"The upcoming international break will be a setback for us because we've had a good run, and the pause to regain that momentum will disturb us," he explained.

The perspective challenges the conventional view of international breaks as an opportunity for teams to regroup and recharge, highlighting the unique challenges faced by Shabana.

Okoth's plea to the County Government of Kisii to expedite the construction of the stadium at their home grounds, Gusii Stadium, adds an additional layer to the story.

The coach's call for improved infrastructure indicates the club's ambitions and desire for a stable and supportive home environment.

Nyabuto's decisive goal, a header from a Rogers Aloro free-kick, not only secured Shabana's victory but also highlighted the team's ability to capitalise on set-piece opportunities.

The Glamour Boys showcased resilience, ending a five-round winless streak and sending a strong message to their competitors in the Premier League.

As Shabana prepare to face Nairobi City Stars at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay on October 22, the team hopes to build on the momentum gained from the Tusker triumph.
