Shabana have finally registered the first win of the season after beating Tusker 0-1 in a match played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Shabana finally registered their first win of the season after beating former champions Tusker 1-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL)  match played at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Friday afternoon.

Second-half substitute Vincent Nyabuto scored the all-important goal deep in the second stanza in a match attended by thousands of Tore Bobe's traveling fans.

Tusker head coach Robert Matano made two changes, as only nine players who started against FC Talanta on Sunday, kept their places in the starting line-up.

Eric Kapaito and David Odoyo failed to make it into the match's starting line-up as they gave way for Deogratious Ojok and Mike Oduor in the line-up.

On the other hand, Sammy Okoth also made two changes to the team which faced AFC Leopards over the weekend.

Enock Obiero and Dennis Wafula replaced fellow attacking midfielders Samuel Maiko and Vincent Nyabuto as Shabana searched for the maiden win of the season since their return to the top-flight league.

Tusker dominated possession from the start, but the visitors found it difficult to unlock Shabana's defense and test goalkeeper Eric Ongiri.

The visitors grew into the match and they came close to scoring when Peter Ongechi headed over the crossbar with only Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire to beat with the home side's defense exposed.

Ongiri was finally tested by Stephan Siwa from a set-piece and the former APS Bomet goalkeeper made a comfortable save at the near post.

Both teams created chances with the half-time break approaching as Joseph Mwangi forced Ongiri into a save from a set-piece before Shabana defender Brian Magare hit the crossbar with a header.

The score was 0-0 at half-time with the two teams having failed to take their chances.

Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire was summoned into action on a couple of occasions after the restart, however, the Brewers held on in warding off the Glamour Boys' attacks.

In attempting to relieve the pressure, Tusker continued to wait for counter-attacking moments when going forward.

As the hour mark approached, the visitors continued to take the game to Tusker, especially with the direct ball into the 18-yard area.

However, Tusker looked dangerous on the counter and a second-half substitute Stewart Omondi’s goal-bound effort was brilliantly finger-tipped over the crossbar by the Shabana goalkeeper.

Daphine Omuli was handed his FKF Premier League debut by Okoth as Shabana looked to snatch a late winning goal.

Shabana went ahead in the 69th minute when Vincent Nyabuto found the back of the net after the Tusker defense line was caught napping to make it 1-0.

Ibrahim Joshua had a chance to be the hero for the hosts but his free-kick was well-saved by the Shabana custodian in the 88th minute who ensured that Shabana ended the match as 1-0 winners.
