After becoming the youngest player to play for Senegal, Amara Diouf continues to make headlines after his next club destination was revealed

Senegal’s 15-year-old sensation, Amara Diouf, is reportedly set to sign for Ligue 1 side Metz, who were promoted from the French second division this season.

Diouf makes history with Senegal

Diouf made history with Senegal after becoming the youngest player to play for the Senegalese senior national team when he made his debut against Rwanda in an AFCON qualifier at the age of 15 years and 94 days.

The Generation Foot winger is set for a move to Europe after impressing with Senegalese youth squads and making a senior national team debut, but Diouf’s choice of team will surprise many given his options.

According to Football Espana, the forward was being tracked by powerhouses like Barcelona, Manchester United, and Arsenal but chose a different path for his first European club, which he will join in the future.

Diouf snubs European powerhouses

Diouf reportedly already has an agreement with Metz to join at a later date, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, and given his apparent options, many will find his final destination strange.

The left winger came through the Generation Foot academy, just like another Senegalese hero, Sadio Mane, and could be set to follow in the footsteps of the national team captain, with his playing style already being likened to the former Liverpool star.

Diouf came into prominence after starring for Senegal’s U17 team, which won the 2022 U17 AFCON, where he scored five goals to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.
