Mikel John Obi's concerns have been ignored by Chelsea, with the club not taking the ex-midfielder's transfer advice.

Chelsea are set to disregard one Mikel John Obi transfer advice imminently, fresh reports suggest.

The former Blues midfielder recently told the London club to let go of the error-prone Robert Sanchez for a top-class goalkeeper if they intend to compete for the Premier League crown.

“A lot of the Chelsea fans can agree that we need another top goalkeeper because Sanchez is not doing it, said Mikel Obi. "The goalkeeper situation needs to be sorted out.

"We can’t go into the new season with Sanchez, I’m sorry. I’m sure that 99 per cent of the Chelsea fans will agree with me that Sanchez is not the goalkeeper who will win us trophies.

"Going into a season where we have the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and all of this, we need a top, top goalkeeper.”

While the London giants could not get a deal for Mike Maignan over the line before the Club World Cup final, they are about to sell a shot-stopper, and it is not Sanchez.

Chelsea about to cash in on Petrovic

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dorde Petrovic is likely to leave the West London club imminently, after the Blues agreed to a £25m deal with Bournemouth.

The Serbian joined Chelsea in 2023 from the New England Revolution in a reported £12.5m deal (plus £1.5m in add-ons).

Many Chelsea supporters believe that Petrovic is the better goalkeeper, with the young shot-stopper’s 10 clean sheets in 31 Ligue 1 matches for Strasbourg standing out, while his remarkable 111 saves, which saw him stop 74% of shots faced, also catch the eye.

However, the Blues are set to make a profit on the player, who signed a seven-year contract just two years ago.

What’s next for Chelsea?

Chelsea players depart for their holidays after the Club World Cup final, returning in time for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 season.
