With Sundowns having won both of their games, Al Ahly are in dire need of maximum points having lost to Al Hilal in their only game played in the group so far due to the FIFA World Cup schedule.

They don't come any bigger and better than Al Ahly taking on Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League.

The recent meetings between the two sides, especially when former Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane was still at Al Ahly, were always a feisty affair, something Saturday's clash also promises to be.

With Sundowns having won both of their games, Al Ahly are in dire need of maximum points having lost to Al Hilal in their only game played in the group so far due to the FIFA World Cup schedule.

Ex-Cranes captain and Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, stated that everyone is looking forward to the game, which is turning out to be one of the biggest derbies on the African continent.

“I think everyone is looking forward to this game. To me, it is turning out to be one of the biggest derbies on the continent. It's always an interesting game whenever we play Al Ahly.” Onyango told Sundowns media.

"I am happy that we are going to play them when we have at least six points or we are on the winning side," added the 2016 CAF Champions League winner.

Of all the 10 meetings between the two sides, the 2018/19 season quarter-final clash stands out when a Pitso Mosimane side then fought back from 1-0 to win 5-1 at home and condemn the Egyptian giants to their heaviest defeat in the competition.

Masandawana have had a perfect start and lead the log with six points, followed by Al Hilal with three points, while Al Ahly, who have a game in hand, sit third without a point, the same as bottom-placed Cotton Sport.

Denis Onyango will be hoping to make his first start for Mamelodi Sundowns on the continent this season, with first-choice Ronwen Williams having featured in the previous two wins in the group stage."
