Harambee Stars skipper Olunga returns to Al Duhail's training after injury eyeing a comeback in the upcoming Equality Cup tournament.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has made a significant stride in his injury recovery journey, resuming full training with Qatar Stars League side Al Duhail.

The Kenya international, who has been sidelined since December due to a hamstring injury, is now gearing up for his much-anticipated return to the field.

Duhail have missed Olunga's services as they have failed to win a single game since he went down with the injury, beginning with a draw before suffering four straight losses.

Olunga sustained the injury during the Asian Champions League match against Persepolis, putting a pause on his remarkable season with the Qatari club.

The former Gor Mahia striker was recently seen training with Al Duhail's full squad, indicating his readiness to rejoin the team for competitive matches.

Olunga also shared a photo of his training session on his Facebook page, signaling his progress and eagerness to get back to action.

Al Duhail, known for their dominance in the Qatari football scene, have won four Qatari Cups and four Emir Cups.

They recently completed their group-stage matches in the Asian Champions League, where they finished third in a group featuring Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and Iranian champions Persepolis.

Olunga's return could provide a significant boost to the team as they prepare for upcoming challenges.

The Qatari Stars League champions are set to participate in the international football tournament, the Equality Cup, which will take place in Qatar from February 1 to 13, 2024.

Al Duhail is scheduled to play against the Russian side Zenit FC in their upcoming Equality Cup match next Friday.

The Equality Cup, hosted at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, promises to be a thrilling event, with free entry for all matches.

The tournament will feature a round-robin format where the teams will play each other once. In case of a tie after regular time, the games will be decided by a penalty shootout, adding an extra layer of excitement for the spectators.

Olunga's journey from injury to full training is not just a personal triumph but also a significant boost for Al Duhail as they face tough competition in the upcoming Equality Cup.
