It has taken the Enyimba man just 13 matches to enter double figures this season in the abridged NPFL season.

It is an interesting race for who emerges as the overall top scorer in the 2023 abridged season in the NPFL with Enyimba’s Chukwuemeka Obioma leading the pack.

Obioma added to his goal tally this campaign after scoring his third goal for the former champions in his last four appearances.

He was on target as the People’s Elephant returned to winning ways following a hard-earned 2-1 win over Plateau United in Aba on Sunday.

The forward netted the winning goals as Finidi George’s Elephant ended a run of four matches without a win in the football league.

Obioma scores again

With the eight-time champions looking to end their poor run of form which had seen them drop out of the super six spot, the Elephants needed their main man.

The in-form forward proved he remains as reliable as ever when he fired the Abia State team to a deserved win over Plateau.

But he does have players breathing down his neck in the race for the golden boot come the end of the campaign.
