NNL Roundup: Heartland, FC One Rocket join Katsina United, qualify for Super 8 playoff

Only the top-ranked teams from the eight groups of NNL will make the cut for teams expected to participate in the Super 8 promotion playoff.

Five-time Nigeria champions Heartland led the charge of outstanding results in Nigeria's second division as the 2023 season of the Nigeria National League (NNL) entered its ninth round this weekend.

With the second coming to an end, the Owerri club secured their spot in the Super 8 playoff with a 2-1 victory over Ibom Youths at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium on Sunday, joining already qualified Katsina United in the promotion playoff.

Beyond Heartland, Group B1 leaders FC One Rocket also secured passage to the Super 8 playoff following a 3-1 victory over Vandrezzer while other NNL group leaders including Kano Pillars, Sporting Lagos and Mighty Jets maintained their positions at the top although facing intense pressure with one game left.
