Usman Mohammed has been ever-present for Maccabi Bnei but couldn't power them past Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Nigerian midfielder Usman Mohammed has reflected on a "bittersweet" stalemate for his Israeli club Maccabi Bnei Reine against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Mohammed and his club Bnei Reine forced their hosts to share the spoils at the weekend in Israel.

The 29-year-old produced an industrious midfield display in the goalless draw, but was left wanting more.

Usman completed 67% of passes and created one chance during his 90 minute showing. He also launched seven accurate long balls and won six ground duels.

But he was unable to inspire a breakthrough as the sides shared the points in an encounter that saw the host miss two big chances.

Posting on Instagram after the game, Usman wrote of enjoying his moment in the game but signalled his hunger for improvement.

"Bittersweet enjoying the moment. We go again," he posted alongside a video of his highlight reel from the match.

Usman’s words encapsulated his mixed emotions after working tirelessly in midfield without reward.

The Nigerian, fondly remembered for his wonder strike against Atletico Madrid in a friendly in Abuja, has started 16 of Maccabi's 17 matches this season, chipping in with a goal and assist from his central midfield role.

But his side has struggled for wins of late, taking just a single point from their last two games in the Israeli first division.

The battling draw with Tel Aviv left Usman's hunger unfulfilled. As he put it himself, the midfield dynamo will look to "go again" in pursuit of victory next time out.

Bnei Reine will host Hapoel Petach-Tikva next, and the midfielder would be hoping to help his side return to winning ways.
