Mikel Obi to get his wish, as Chelsea make BIG decision on Jackson
Despite Enzo Maresca’s continued public praise of Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea are now reportedly prepared to sell the Senegal international, having signed two new strikers this summer.
Jackson on his way out
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have placed Jackson on the transfer list and will listen to offers for him this summer.
Earlier in the transfer window, the Blues slapped a €100 million transfer fee on him after an approach from Manchester United, signalling an unwillingness to sell, as the price seemed prohibitive. However, that figure has now been slashed.
Chelsea are already prepared for a future without Jackson, signing Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. They have offloaded Marc Guiu, and are preparing the sales of Christopher Nkunku and Jackson.
Jackson's struggles at Chelsea
The 24-year-old was signed from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, and while he has shown quality in patches, he has largely struggled to win all the fans over.
He scored 17 and 13 goals in his two seasons at Chelsea. While those are not paltry figures, they are a far cry from the appropriate output for a striker at a top club.
Jackson has been largely criticised by fans of the club, and former legends like John Obi Mikel. The former Nigerian football legend consistently berated Jackson, stating that he is not good enough to play for the club. Apparently, the Chelsea leadership now agree as well, and are now ready to part ways with him.
