The former Inter Milan star will face the interview panel on March 1, 2023.

Former Kenyan international McDonald Mariga is among 224 candidates shortlisted for Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) position by the Public Service Commission (PSC)

Mariga, who entered active politics in 2019, was shortlisted from a pool of 600 candidates who applied for the positions.

The 35-year-old will appear for an interview held at Public Service Commission offices at Harambee House on March 1, 2023.

According to Kenyan law, those interested in CAS positions must possess a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

In the 2022 general elections, Mariga vied for Kibra constituency's Member of Parliament, but he lost in his second attempt.

During his playing career, Mariga won the UEFA Champions League and Italian Serie A titles with Inter Milan in 2010 under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho.

His last appearance for Harambee Stars was during the team's barren draw against Lesotho in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers back in August 2014.

Mariga, who is Victor Wanyama's elder brother, last played for Real Oviedo in Spain from 2017 to 2018.

It is worth noting that in January 2010, Mariga was to sign for English Premier League club Manchester City, but he failed to obtain a work permit on which stalled the move.

Another notable name in the CAS shortlist is the former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee secretariat Linda Oguttu.

Oguttu, a former local television presenter,  headed the caretaker committee which ran football from November 2021 to  October 16, 2022.
