Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has declared that he is not thinking about the vacant Chelsea job despite the rumours

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has made it clear that he is not thinking of a possible move to Premier League side Chelsea as his only focus at the moment is with the Clarets and the end of their Championship seasons.

Chelsea circling Kompany after great EFL Championship season

Kompany has led Burnley to promotion in the 2022/23 EFL Championship season, and they are on the brink of winning the title after a superb season.

Currently, on 92 points with three games to go, Burnley could become the first team to reach 100 points in the Championship since Leicester did so in the 2013/14 season.

The Clarets are 10 points ahead of Sheffield United in second place, who have played one game less than Burnley and could claim the league title with a win in the next game week, or this game week if Sheffield United drop points when they play West Brom in a midweek fixture.

Kompany’s incredible leadership of Burnley has led to him being one of the managers in contention for the vacant Chelsea job, but the former Manchester City defender appears to have shut down the rumours linking him to a move to Stamford Bridge.

Kompany focused on Burnley at the moment

Speaking after Burnley’s loss to Queen’s Park Rangers, Kompany was in no mood to discuss speculations, saying his only focus was on getting Burnley back to winning ways after three consecutive games without a win.

Kompany said, “I’m not engaging on any of these conversations. I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches.

“That’s the only thing I care about.”

Chelsea are still on the hunt for a manager after parting with Graham Potter and they have already ruled out Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, leaving them with a few managers to choose from as a replacement for the Englishman who left with the club nearing a crisis.

Interim boss Frank Lampard has done nothing to improve the team’s form since re-joining Chelsea and the Blues hope to find a permanent manager sooner rather than later.
