Gitau dominated the right flank to help Middlesbrough claim a priceless Premier League 2 victory over Manchester United.

Harambee Stars prospect George Gitau was on song as he helped Middlesbrough U21 get a deserved win against Manchester United U21 in a Premier League 2 encounter that took place on Saturday evening.

Gitau bombed up and down the pitch as a right wing back, showcasing his abilities on the ball as he delivered a couple of dangerous crosses and also made timely interceptions defensively

The first half saw Law McCabe's attempts and Boro's pressure causing issues for the United backline.

However, two tight calls went against Boro, leading to goals by Ashton Missin and an own goal by Joe Hannah.

Despite this setback, Finch managed to score and bring Boro back into the game before the break.

In the second half, Boro continued their strong performance, with Finch scoring again and leveling the game.

Ajay Matthews was brought into the game, and despite some missed opportunities, Finch played a key role in the turnaround.

The match concluded with Finch orchestrating the winning goal, breaking at pace and assisting Matthews, whose shot found the net after a deflection.

It was a remarkable comeback for Boro, completing the turnaround and securing a well-deserved victory.

Gitau, had a brief spell on loan at Marske United in December.

The 20-year-old defender has made significant contributions to Middlesbrough's youth system since 2020.

A noteworthy moment in Gitau's career occurred in January when he was named on the bench for Middlesbrough during their FA Cup clash against Brighton.
