Inter welcomes Benfica to San Siro Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League game after securing a 2-0 victory in the first leg.

Goals from Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku gave Inter the advantage going into the second leg of the tie. They will be hoping they can finish it off today at the San Siro Stadium.

Notwithstanding the team's recent struggles in Serie A, according to Simone Inzaghi, they are fully focused on their Champions League match against Benfica.

Inzaghi says his team know what needs to be done

The 47-year-old emphasised that tomorrow's quarter-final second-leg encounter at the San Siro is their main focus in an interview with Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, which was obtained through FCInterNews.

The Nerazzurri find themselves in a difficult position to qualify for the next season's Champions but their aim now is to advance far in this season's Champions League and probably win it.

For his part, however, Inzaghi is certain that the team is entirely focused on what needs to be done against Benfica.

The team needs to improve

Speaking ahead of Benfica’s game, Inzaghi said, “We know that we have the second half of a very important match for us. We start with an advantage from the first half, but we’ll still have to play our game, always focused and with intensity.

“We’ll have to cover every inch of the field, running as a united team. We know the quality of the team who are coming to face us at the Meazza,” Inzaghi said of this formidable Benfica side, who have already beaten Juventus and drawn with Paris Saint-Germain twice.”

Inzaghi expressed the opinion that the team must improve after its recent dreadful performance in Serie A.

Still speaking, he said, “Now it’s useless to sit here and think about the past, we know we’re not in good form in the league but we need to focus on Benfica, on this opportunity to reach the last four which would be a huge achievement.”
