The fans shared their displeasure after the Blues were outclassed by Brentford at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has said he understands fans’ frustrations after boos were heard after a Premier League 2-0 loss to Brentford.

The loss meant Chelsea have lost five games in a row in all competitions in 30 years, and all five losses have come under Lampard.

Lampard, who returned to take charge of the team until the end of the season, had already claimed the record of becoming the first Blues’ manager in the club's 118-year history to lose his first four games in charge. This came after a Champions League loss to Real Madrid last week.

"I've no problem with that [boos from fans], completely understand it," Lampard said after the match.

"I know these fans very well, and they stick by their team. They feel down because they are used to success, and they want that success all the time, as we all do. I absolutely understand it, we as players and staff have to take it on the chin because they want results.

"I can say to the fans now that the players are showing application. Brentford had one shot on target and scored two goals, that kind of says it all."

After the Blues extended a bad run in front of goal to just one strike during his five games in charge, the former Everton manager pointed out what needs to be addressed.

"There is a balance of the squad thing to address. I think everybody sees that," he added.

"This has been a problem that predates me. Maybe there aren't goals so much in the team. It's a clear issue in the squad."

Meanwhile, Chelsea have failed to score at home for the seventh time in the Premier League this season - their outright most in a single campaign in the competition.
