England captain Harry Kane has hailed his 'perfect' start to life at Bayern Munich after scoring and assisting on his full debut for the bavarian giants.

Kane was instrumental in a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen on Friday in the league opener.

"I just couldn't wait to get out there and get started. The perfect start,” he said.

The England striker netted in the 74th minute to add to the assist he had made for Leroy Sane’s early opener, before being replaced late on.

Kane, who left Tottenham Hotspur after 14 years in north London, was raring to go in the Bundesliga and is pleased to be off the mark for his new team.

“It’s fantastic, there’s been a lot of talk and a lot of build-up towards these games,” Kane told Sky Sports. “I just couldn't wait to get out there and get started.

“It started well with the goal early on, it was a tough game, we created some good chances - we just lacked the final product.

“They come out in the second half and caused us a couple of problems for five or 10 minutes but overall we stayed calm, and I managed to get the second goal and the boys finished it off, off the bench. Overall just a perfect start.”

When asked how playing in Germany differs from the English game, Kane said the atmospheres created by the fans was incredible and like nothing he had experienced before in the English game.

“It was great, to be honest. The fans from both sides were incredible the whole game," he admitted.

“Really different to some of the Premier League atmospheres I’ve experienced, of course, our away fans were amazing but credit to their fans, they were great.

“I really enjoyed my experience and I’m just happy that we come away with the win.”

The 30-year-old made his debut for Bayern as a substitute in a shock 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup on Saturday, which would have been Kane’s first career trophy, on the same day he signed, had they won.

But despite the defeat, Kane is relishing the season ahead.

“I’m really happy, we’ve got a fantastic squad and I’m excited to be a part of it,” he said. “Overall just a really good team performance.”

Kane departed in the 83rd minute after going down injured, but he is sure it’s nothing to fear.

“I think so,” he agreed when asked if it was just a touch of cramp. “Obviously pre-season was a bit up and down towards the end and this was kind of my first proper game.

“The whole environment change, a lot going on with the family and everything so it was just a bit of cramp towards the end there.

“The boys that come on, came on and finished the game really well and that’s what you need in the team, you need everyone part of the squad and pushing to be successful.”

Bayern Munich host FC Augsburg on Sunday, August 27 in their next match.
