The Harambee Stars defender was spotted training with Orlando City seniors as the MLS Side commenced pre-season training and he will be hoping to make an impression to be promoted from the B team to the seniors.
Harambee Stars defender Nabi Kibunguchy is training with the Orlando City senior side in the hope he can make a big enough impression to be promoted to the first team permanently.
Kibunguchy has played a majority of his football for the side’s MLS Next Pro B team either as a center-back or a right-back, but the 25-year-old will now be itching to move to the next level if he can make a positive impression.
Ahead of their 10th campaign in Club history, the Lions began pre-season training on Monday, Jan. 15 at the Orlando Health Training Ground at Osceola Heritage Park.

The US-born defender was delighted to have earned his first cap for Kenya as Harambee Stars thrashed Seychelles on Monday
Kibunguchy, who made his debut for Stars in a 5-0 win over Seychelles in November, will get a chance to stake his claim in the side’s first pre-season game of the season against Brazilian giants CR Flamengo at Exploria Stadium on Saturday, January 27.
Following that match, City will head to Port St. Lucie for a one-week training camp from Sat., Jan. 29 to Sun., Feb. 4, including a scrimmage against Florida International University on February 4 before returning to Orlando. The Lions will then take on Rhode Island, before hosting the New England Revolution Houston Dynamo FC and the Colorado Rapids respectively.
The five games should hopefully give Kibunguchy a chance to feature for the seniors permanently before City start up its competitive campaigns for the year, traveling to take on Cavalry FC in the Concacaf Champions Cup on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Starlight Stadium for the first leg of the matchup.

Before joining Orlando City B for the 2023 season, Kibunguchy's journey in professional soccer had already taken shape when he was drafted by Minnesota United FC during the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
