Hansi Flick rewarded for hardwork as Barcelona hand treble winner contract extension

Barcelona have extended the contract of treble-winning German coach Hansi Flick, with the manager set for an extra year in charge of the Blaugrana.

Flick’s debut season with Barcelona has been exceptional, with the Blaugrana repaying his hard work with a well-deserved extension.

In only his first season at the club, Flick has made himself into a modern icon of Barcelona, winning a domestic treble while also coming within seconds of a UEFA Champions League title.

The German tactician has overseen a hugely successful 024/25 campaign with Barcelona, winning the Spanish Super Cup, Copa del Rey, and LaLiga titles at his first attempt.

His 73% win percentage with Barcelona is the best in a debut season by a Blaugrana manager since Luis Enrique won the treble in 2015.

Flick also became only the fourth Barcelona coach to win the LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles in their debut season, after Louis Van Gaal, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique, and Ernesto Valverde.

After his impressive debut season, Barcelona have announced that Flick will be staying on for an extra season, extending his stay in Spain.

The former Germany national team coach was originally billed to be in charge until the summer of 2026, but has now been given an extra season in charge, with his new contract ending in 2027 instead.

Barcelona will be hoping to build on the successes of Flick’s first season as the club aims for more glory under the 60-year-old gaffer for the next two seasons.
