Flick rejects Barcelona's offer
Nearing the end of his first year in charge, many of the Blaugrana persuasion are already hoping he can stay for 10 more.
The former Bayern Munich boss has breathed new life into the club, as they are competing on all fronts at this stage of the season. Barcelona are on course for the third treble in their history, as they are the LALIGA leader with a healthy four-point gap, favourites to win the Champions League, and in the Copa del Rey final.
Hence, the Barcelona leadership approached him for a renewal and offered him a three-year contract offer, which Flick rebuffed in favour of a one-year extension that would expire in 2027, according to reports.

Flick explains why
Ahead of this weekend's LALIGA fixture against Leganes, the Blaugrana head coach was asked about the contract situation, and he explained his reason for preferring a short contract to a long one.
“I’m really enjoying my time here,” Flick said. “The staff, the players, everyone—they’re unbelievable. The atmosphere is fantastic, like a family. I love living in Barcelona, and I’m full of energy and ideas to keep improving this team.”
“But I’m NOT the type of coach who signs a 3-year deal just to feel secure. I want to work for this club, the best club in the world — step by step, paso a paso.
“Right now, it’s one year… Then we’ll see. If everyone’s happy, we move forward together. But I’m focused on the present—we’ve got a lot of work to do.”
