Gor Mahia captain Otieno has expresses confidence in team's resurgence ahead of Nairobi City Stars clash.

Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno is brimming with confidence that they will exorcise their demons and bounce back to winning ways when they face Nairobi City Stars on Saturday in a high-stakes FKF-Premier League showdown.

The top-of-the-table clash, set to unfold at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, has ignited fervent anticipation among football enthusiasts as reigning champions Gor Mahia seek redemption following a recent dip in form.

K'Ogalo find themselves under mounting pressure to reignite their winning streak after their impeccable start to the season was abruptly halted by a 3-1 defeat to Police FC on February 3.

This setback was further compounded by a goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars seven days later, leaving fans yearning for a resurgence.

However, amidst the challenging times, Otieno remains resolute, expressing unwavering belief in the team's ability to bounce back against Nairobi City Stars.

“We are working hard to make sure that we get back to winning ways and we’ve not slowed down. It hasn’t been good for us in the past two games, and we know the importance of winning matches to make our fans happy, and that is what we are determined to do in the coming matches,” Otieno told Citizen Digital.

Acknowledging the threat posed by Nairobi City Stars, who currently sit second on the league table, Otieno highlighted the importance of tactical discipline in securing maximum points.

“We haven’t panicked at all about our recent performance, and we are determined to get back to winning ways and defend the title. We know how good City Stars are, and they are not in that position by luck. We will go into that game with the aim of maintaining tactical discipline in all departments to ensure we get maximum points,” Otieno affirmed.

Nairobi City Stars, buoyed by their recent 1-0 victory over Bandari FC, have proven to be formidable contenders this season, displacing the surprise package Posta Rangers from the second spot.

The Simba wa Nairobi's upturn in form adds an extra layer of intrigue to the upcoming clash promising a spectacle for football enthusiasts.
