Trucha is concerned about the potentially “tricky” Kakamega Homeboyz game at the Bukhungu Stadium this weekend.

AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha is approaching the upcoming clash with Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium with a sense of caution, acknowledging the formidable threat posed by their opponents in what promises to be a highly anticipated Ingokho Derby.

Leopards beat them 2-0 in the first leg at the Nyayo National Stadium, which set the pathway for an impressive run of form of losing none of their last seven league games, with six of those wins.

Speaking after they beat Murang’a Seal 1-0, Trucha revealed that, although his team can maintain their impressive run of form,  they need to be wary of Homeboyz considering derbies are emotional and about who turns up better on the day.

“With the help of God, with the performance of the players, we can make it,” Trucha said.

“Don’t ask me where we find ourselves at the end of the league. The next game is Kakamega, Western Derby and I hope the stadium will be fully packed.

“Derbies are unpredictable, you never know, so it is Western derby or Nairobi Derby, there is no favorite team, so we need to be ready.”

Meanwhile, Trucha has maintained his stance on why he thinks that his players are the ones who deserve all the praise for their good run of form and not about what he has done in charge himself.

“Firstly, you have to ask the players, secondly, Tom Juma did not have time to prepare the team because there was little time before the start of the league.

“Maybe I had more time. We had a weekend in Mumias, we had a FIFA break so I tried to make players comfortable, what we are doing, what  we are playing, they started to understand what we were doing and how we want to play.”

As the team prepares for the Western Derby, Trucha remains focused on maintaining their momentum and ensuring that his players are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead in the league.

The last time both teams faced each other competitively, the match ended in chaos as Ingwe fans stormed onto the pitch in the seventh minute citing poor refereeing.

Leopards also lost both their friendly encounters against the side in December.
