Sunday Adetunji's 20 goals in his first season with Shkupi helped them to their first-ever league title.

Nigerian striker Sunday Adetunji has received the award of the 2022 Best Foreign Player in the Macedonian First Football League.

Adetunji who made his Super Eagles debut against Mexico in July 2021 - his only international appearance to date, joined the Macedonian club in August 2021.

The 2022 season saw him finish as the top scorer in the league with 20 goals, helping Shkupi to their first-ever league title.

Adetunji dedicate award to supporters

Taking to his social media after receiving the award, the 6ft. 2in. striker appreciated everyone who had played a part in his growth to that point.

"I am back to work @fcshkupi1927," Adetunji wrote on Twitter.

"Excited to receive my award as the 2022 Best Foreign Player in the League. I am dedicating the award to everyone who has supported my career."

Adetunji's Shkupi trailing Macedonian league leaders Struga

Prior to his move to Macedonia in August 2021, Adetunji had played for NPFL club sides Rivers United, Plateau United, Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors and Enyimba.

Since moving to Macedonia, he's helped Shkupi win the league title, qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage qualifiers, as well as, play in the Europa League and Europa Conference League group stage qualifiers.

So far this season, the Nigerian striker has scored three goals and assisted his teammates four times in 13 league appearances.

Adetunji's side Shkupi, trail current league leaders Struga, with three points and a game in hand. The Macedonian First Football League is expected to resume in February having been on an end-of-the-year break since December.
