FKF has suspended several referees and a player over alleged match-fixing in FKF Premier League pending investigation.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has moved to suspend three referees and a player amid serious allegations of match-fixing in the Premier League.

The federation's Integrity Department is spearheading an investigation into these accusations targeting individuals believed to have compromised the fairness of the game.

The provisional suspension list includes referees Mr. Meshack Omondi, Ms. Jacqueline Barongo, Mr. Stephen Adeya and FC Talanta player Kevin Olang'o.

FKF has also suspended Dvision One side Kibra United’s team manager Abdulkarim Amele.

These suspensions bar the individuals from participating in all football-related activities until further notice.

"This suspension will remain in force until the investigations are concluded and a determination is made by the FKF Disciplinary Committee," the federation stated in a press release.

FKF has strongly advised its members and the public to avoid any sporting contact with the accused parties during this period.

Details on the specifics of the alleged match-fixing incidents remain undisclosed as the federation awaits the findings of the ongoing investigation and the subsequent ruling of the FKF Disciplinary Committee.

However, sources close to the federation have revealed that the allegations stem from a match held two weeks ago between FC Talanta and Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, which ended with a City Stars victory of 3-0.

The match raised eyebrows due to the unusual awarding of three penalties—two missed by FC Talanta and one successfully converted by City Stars' Bajaber Mohamed towards the end of the game.

This incident marks yet another chapter in FKF's ongoing efforts to clean up Kenyan football.

In 2021, referees Raymond Onyango, Samuel Mwaura, Isaac Memusi, Collins Opiyo, and Japheth Juma faced suspensions for similar allegations.

The following year saw the suspensions of Tony Kidiya, Nyabera Libese, Boniface Gikonyo, and Hassan Omondi.
