Fenerbahce vs Ferencvaros preview, prediction, team news, and head-to-head

Fenerbahce needs a win in this fixture to get on the same points as their visitors. Meanwhile, Ferencvaros will hope to go ahead in this match for a chance to top the Europa League table. 

Fenerbahce are in tremendous form and recently beat Rizespor 5-2 away from home and a 3-2 win against Besiktas in Istanbul. This places them just one point behind the table leaders, Galatasaray. 

In Europe, though, their results have been a bit mixed. They have won 2, drawn 1, and lost 1 of their four group games so far, earning 7 points. That puts them in 15th place overall in the Europa League standings.  

Ferencvaos, on the other hand, has been very solid in the Europa League. The Hungarian football club are also third on the Europa League table with 10 points from 4 games. However, their weekend 3-1 defeat may have a physological effect that the home team can exploit. 

If they manage a draw in Istanbul, it will be enough for them to qualify for the next round. They will count on their sharp attack to take advantage of any mistakes Fenerbahce makes in defence.

There is not much recent history between the two teams. They have  only played each other twice in official European competitions, and that was way back in 1971.

In the first leg, the match ended in a one-one draw between Fenerbahce and Ferencváros.  In the second leg, the most decorated Hungarian team won by three goals to one and also advanced to the next round on aggregate.

Fenerbahce will be without several key players for this important match, they will miss Fred due to suspension, which affects their midfield control. Jayden Oosterwolde is also suspended, reducing their defensive options. İsmail Yuksek is unavailable for the same reason, weakening their midfield further. 

Domenico Tedesco will likely start Mert Hakan Yandas and Talisca in the midfield to replace the injured players. He may also have to entrust the creativity of the team to Asensio.

However, Ferencvaros has fewer worries. Coach Robbie Keane should have most of his squad available. The only major absence is striker Barnabás Varga, who is still recovering from a past injury. Other than that, the team is almost at full strength.
