Eddie Howe could not hide his delight in the post-match press conference of Newcastle's 4-1 demolition Paris Saint-Germain.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was elated about his team’s performance against Paris Saint-Germain, saying his players put in a brilliant shift.

The Magpies trumped the French Champions at St. James’s Park in the Champions League group stage clash, beating them 4-1 in their Group F clash.

Miguel Almiron opened the scoring for the hosts with a brilliant strike in the 17th minute, and Dan Burn doubled the lead in the 39th minute. Sean Longstaff made it three in the 50th minute, and although Lucas Hernandez pulled one back for the visitors, Fabian Schar restored the three-goal margin late in the game.

What Eddie Howe said

The English manager was full of praise for his team’s performance, how well they executed their gameplan, and the outstanding atmosphere generated by the home crowd.

“It was a brilliant effort from the players; it was a different game and it was a cat-and-mouse between the two. We were trying to press them and they were trying to play through us,” Howe said, per the BBC.

"We made it clear as we could,” he said about their gamelan.

“We wanted to be ourselves when we played AC Milan and we were not where we needed to be. I think that was with expected with the three defeats previously to that game, I think we came here with a lot more confident mood. Full credit to the players, they had to deliver it against world-class players."

"I think in every team talk I mention the crowd because they are so powerful, if we don’t use the crowd and play a style of football where they are not going to be involved in the game we are missing a trick."
