Both sides are unchanged from their league victories at the weekend. The returning Kevin De Bruyne started against his old club for Napoli, while former Manchester United players Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund are also in for the Serie A champions.

Both teams started the game brightly, creating chances in the first 20 minutes; however, as the game kept opening up, Napoli were reduced to 10 men.

Erling Haaland looked to be free on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat when he was brought down by Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Kevin De Bruyne, who was looking to enjoy his reunion with his former club and teammates, was sacrificed by the manager due to the red card.

The referee had no choice but to issue a red card to the player. Despite the red card, Man City failed to get a goal until the halftime whistle.

Manchester City maintained their lead for the remainder of the game and secured a 2-0 victory in their first UCL game of the season.
