Maxim Choupo-Moting has scored 11 goals in 16 games this season to help fill the void left by the departure of Robert Lewandowski

When Bayern Munich sold Lewandowski to Barcelona in the summer, there were a few questions raised about how the manager Julian Nagelsmann would reconfigure his attack. In the first few games, Sadio Mane was asked to lead the line and while he performed admirably, there was something missing.

Replacing the departed Lewandowski is no easy task even if Bayern will typically dominate and win most Bundesliga matches. They won their first three games of the season scoring 15 goals and only conceding on one occasion.

Everyone started to chip in, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry were regular contributors.

Nagelsmann saw his team go on a five-game winless run in the league from the end of August. The media and fans started to question the tactics and methods of the manager. Rumors of dressing room tension began swirling as they continued to falter domestically.

Bayern had an upturn in form that coincided with Choupo-Moting being introduced into the starting XI. The team now had cleared structure with him leading the line. He has an innate ability to anchor the offense and intelligently bring other forwards into play.

He has repaid the faith shown in him by registering 11 goals this season and looks a potent and more importantly, Reliable source of goals for the Bavarians. Bayern are now four points clear at the top of the table and a lot of the praise should go to the Cameroonian striker, Maxim Choupo-Moting.
