Chippa United congratulate 'immense pride' Nwabali on AFCON heroics against South Africa

Chippa United supported Stanley Nwabali and Nigeria's Super Eagles against South Africa.

Chippa United have congratulated goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali for his "extraordinary achievement" in helping Nigeria reach the Africa Cup of Nations final against South Africa. 

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Chippa took to social media to send share the message after Nwabali earned a man of the match honors in the dramatic semifinal shootout win over South Africa.

Nwabali’s display earns Chippa praise

The 27-year-old delivered another outstanding performance as the Super Eagles overcame a stubborn Bafana Bafana in the last four clash on Wednesday.

Nwabali conceded for the first time in four matches but made amends in the resultant penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1 after extra time.

He made two saves against the Rainbow nation, who only converted two of their spot kicks to hand Nigeria the needed victory.

In a club statement, Chippa United expressed their "immense pride" in Nwabali's performance and said he has "admirably represented the Chippa United brand."

“The club wishes to extend its congratulations to Stanley Nwabali for his extraordinary achievement in reaching the AFCON 2023 finals and for also earning the Man of the Match award,” United’s statement read in parts on X.com.

The club wished Nwabali luck in the final against Ivory Coast on Sunday as they reaffirmed their "steadfast support." 

“Our support for you remains steadfast. You have represented the Chippa United brand admirably, and we are immensely proud of you. We will be rooting for you in the Finals this Sunday against the host country, Côte d'Ivoire,” the club added.

Chippa United also outlined upcoming fixtures, stating their commitment to stakeholders and goal of being the "pride of the Eastern Cape Province.
