Super Falcons' goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has set her sights on a monumental goal: propelling Nigeria to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The journey to Olympic qualification has been a challenging road for Nigeria, with their last appearance dating back to 2008.

The Super Falcons have faced hurdles in their recent attempts, falling short in the qualifiers for the 2016 and 2020 editions, with defeats to Equatorial Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire respectively.

However, with Ethiopia out of the way in the current qualifying series, only Cameroon stands between the Super Falcons and the final round of their campaign.

The Road to Paris: A Crucial Showdown

The upcoming duel with Cameroon is more than just another match; it's a pivotal moment that could either make or break Nigeria's Olympic aspirations.

The first leg is scheduled for Friday, February 23, in Douala, followed by a decisive return leg in Abuja just three days later. Nnadozie, aware of the threat posed by the Indomitable Lionesses, acknowledges the gravity of the situation.

Despite Cameroon's rare victories over Nigeria in the past two decades, the goalkeeper refuses to rest on the laurels of past triumphs.

Nnadozie's Call to Arms

"It’s a very tough encounter awaiting us against Cameroon," Nnadozie confided to FIFA. She emphasized the importance of not dwelling on past victories but instead focusing on the task at hand. With hard work, focus, and unity, she believes the Super Falcons can emerge victorious.

"We shouldn’t dwell on our past victories against them," Nnadozie cautioned, as reported by Soccernet, urging her teammates to remain vigilant and dedicated.

Nnadozie's aspirations extend beyond the Olympic qualifiers. Having shone brightly at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the Super Falcons reached unprecedented heights, she now dreams of adding an Olympic journey to her accolades—especially since the Games will be hosted in Paris, where she plays her club football.

The Paris FC star, along with several teammates playing in France, is eager to showcase her talent on what could be considered her home turf.

"Paris is an incredible city, very beautiful, with incredible people. In Paris, I feel at home," she expressed, highlighting the personal significance of qualifying for the Olympics.

As the team prepares to face Cameroon, the entire nation watches, hopeful that this talented squad can overcome the final hurdles and secure their place at the 2024 Olympic Games.
