Chelsea star returns after suffering minor injury in action for England.

Chelsea star Reece James has pulled out of England's squad after suffering from a 'minor hamstring injury,' and has returned to the club.

England began their Euro 2024 campaign on an excellent note, beating their strongest rivals in the group, Italy, 2-1 away from home.

They are set to face Ukraine tomorrow at Wembley; however, they will have to do it without Reece James, who has returned to Chelsea for assessment.

James was a substitute in England's 2-1 win over Italy, coming on to help England hold on to their lead at a time when Italy had them on the ropes following a red card to Luke Shaw.

James came on in the 85th minute, replacing his fellow Londoner Bukayo Saka, as Gareth Southgate sought more defensive solidity in the face of Italian incursion.

He made three clearances and won a crucial aerial duel in his time on the pitch, helping England hold on to all three points; however, he has felt some discomfort and has now returned to Chelsea for assessment.

Reece James' injury problems

As we reported in detail here, the 23-year-old only recently returned from an injury that kept him out of action for five games after he was previously out for nine matches.

Since making his debut in the 19/20 season, Reece James has missed 65 games due to injury.

Chelsea would hope he can overcome his injury problems, as he is crucial to their project.
