The Red Devils are now considering alternatives after their offer for the English midfielder was rejected.

Manchester United's third improved bid for Mason Mount has been reportedly rejected by Chelsea.

The Blues have turned down a bid worth £55 million for midfielder Mount, who is heavily linked with a move away this summer.

Reports indicate that Chelsea have made a counter-proposal of £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons and offered to meet United in person to try and come to a positive resolution over the England international.

Mount has one year remaining on his Stamford Bridge contract and is said to be eager to complete a move and join Manchester United.

After the third bid was rejected, the Red Devils are said to be keen on looking for an alternative as it is suggested that they will not increase their £55 million offer. Had United received a positive reply from Chelsea, they were ready for more negotiations around Mount.

One of the alternatives is Declan Rice, who United retain an interest in. However, they will have to battle it out with both Manchester City and Arsenal, who have been linked with Rice.

Chelsea are set to let some players leave in the next transfer window, and the departures could include Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz to Manchester City and Arsenal for £30 million and £65 million, respectively.

Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, and Kalidou Koulibaly have been heavily linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League, and this is expected to improve their financial position.
