PSG are reportedly expecting an offer from Chelsea for Kylian Mbappe

Chelsea could make a bid for Kylian Mbappe after a reported cryptic phone call between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Todd Boehly.

The Parisians are determined not to let Mbappe leave on a free transfer next season, and they showed this when they accepted a bid from Al Hilal worth 259 million pounds, but the World Cup winner rejected negotiations with the club outright, despite the fact he would have made potential earnings upwards of 700 million pounds.

Mbappe only has a year left on his current deal after the clause that indicated that there was an option to extend his current deal by a year expired.

His employers are now desperate to get rid of him so that they do not lose him on a free to Real Madrid next summer, though he is not keen on leaving now.

“By the standards of football, you never see your best player leave for free. It just doesn't happen.

'We don't want to let the best player in the world go for free, it's impossible. PSG is a French club, it's his city, and he's already said he doesn't want to leave for free.” Al Khelafi said.

Mbappe has been growing 'angry' and Chelsea would be willing to take him off PSG's hands with an offer, as reported by L'Equipe.

Madrid have already made it clear they are not expecting to make more signings, as Carlo Ancelotti said in a press conference on Saturday.

The 24-year-old is training at the team's new state-of-the-art training complex in Poissy, unveiled in July after a £257m spend, while his team-mates are on a tour of Japan and South Korea.

This entire ordeal was initiated when he wrote a letter to the club earlier in the summer saying that he wanted to leave at the end of next season, leaving them feeling 'betrayed'.

Liverpool have reportedly made contact over a potential loan move, but Chelsea are determined to get in the way of those talks over a deal, which is the reason Boelhy may have instigated the call.
