They had been in negotiations with Les Dogues for the signing of the Cameroon international, with the Ligue 1 giants holding out on their valuation of the player.

The Premier League side are now said to have agreed to pay the requested €30 million fee. The player has also reportedly been given permission by the club to travel to England for his medicals in order to complete the move.

Who is Baleba?

Despite the high transfer fee, Baleba only recently got promoted to the Lille senior team last year.

Also, despite playing 19 league games last season, he only made five starts, performing a squad rotation role.

He started Lille's first game this season but was dropped to the bench in last weekend's win against Nantes, coming on in the last few minutes of the game.
