Manchester City are reportedly making a move for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma as they look to replace Riyad Mahrez who left for Saudi Arabia.

Pep Guardiola has identified the Japan international as a good replacement for Mahrez as they look to bolster their attack.

City recently confirmed their second summer signing, Gvardiol who joined his Croatian teammate Mateo Kovacic from RB Leipzig on a five-year contract.

However, the Premier League winners are not done with their transfer as they look to bring in an attacker before the end of the transfer window.

Mitoma on Man City radar

Mitoma, a Japanese winger who has a five-year contract offer from Brighton still outstanding, is another player that is being watched by City.

Although his current contract only has two years left, the Seagulls want to keep him for longer and have already turned down interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

After Riyad Mahrez signed a £30 million contract with Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia, Guardiola wants to sign a new wide receiver.

The versatile Mitoma is a favourite of the Spaniard, who praised him during City's preseason trip to the Far East.

Guardiola was questioned about the talent in Asian football prior to their friendly matchup against Yokohama F Marinos.

He said as reported by the Sun, "Well I would say the impact of [Kaoru] Mitoma on the Premier League has been incredible.

"He is in the right place with the right manager and his last season was extraordinary. Look at what Japan has done in the World Cup in a tough, tough group."
