Brentford have reportedly made it clear, especially to Arsenal, that star striker Ivan Toney will not come cheap

Arsenal’s quest for a forward to lead their line faces a significant setback as Brentford have placed a monumental valuation on their striker Ivan Toney, indicating a strong intent to retain him at least until the end of the season.

This decision comes amidst heightened interest from major clubs across Europe, including notable Premier League teams like Chelsea and Arsenal, as per Skysports

Valuation and Transfer Speculation

According to Arsenal transfer specialist David Ornstein, Brentford has reportedly valued Toney at a staggering £100 million. This valuation underscores the club's firm stance on his importance to the team and their reluctance to part with him in the January transfer window.

Despite the considerable interest from top clubs, Brentford seems determined to keep Toney, at least for the foreseeable future.

Toney's Return from Ban and Market Interest

Ivan Toney is set to finish his eight-month ban for betting offences on January 16. His return coincides with the January transfer window, fueling speculation about a potential move.

However, Brentford's valuation and their apparent dismissiveness of lower bids (around £50m-£60m) suggest that it would require a monumental offer to persuade them to sell.

Brentford's Strategic Position

Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, has previously expressed his belief in Toney's high market value, suggesting figures upwards of £100 million. This stance aligns with the club's broader strategy of holding onto key players to strengthen their position in competitive leagues.

While it remains clear that Brentford are bracing for potential bids for Ivan Toney, they remain steadfast in their valuation and intent to keep him. The significant price tag reflects both Toney's talent and Brentford's strategic approach to player management amid interest from some of Europe's top football clubs.
