The Brazilian forward is nearing full recovery from a knee injury sustained at the World Cup

Arsenal’s quest for a first Premier League title has been handed a significant boost by the news that summer signing Gabriel Jesus is now on the last lap to recovery and is already doing physical training after an extended period out with a knee injury.

Gabriel Jesus boost for Arsenal

Gabriel Jesus enjoyed a superb start to life in Arsenal after joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022 before getting injured during the World Cup while playing for Brazil.

Jesus was due to be out of contention for three months after December and has now resumed physical activity nine weeks after undergoing surgery, with a view to returning to full fitness in early March.

Mikel Arteta will be excited by new of Gabriel Jesus imminent return

Jesus was seen on his Snapchat at Arsenal’s Colney training centre getting up to speed with his recovery and doing some physical exercises, including swimming pool exercises and balance exercises on the injured leg.

What happens to Nketiah when Jesus returns?

Jesus had been a revelation in the Arsenal set-up this season, helping the team’s cause with five goals and six assists in 14 league matches before getting injured, and they will be eager to get him back after the long layoff.

Arsenal have coped in his absence, largely thanks to the exploits of Eddie Nketiah who has done a remarkable job of deputising for Jesus, who has scored four goals in six Premier League appearances since Jesus’ injury.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal do when Jesus comes back from injury fully. Do they tweak the formation to include both their current centre-forwards, or does Nketiah drop back to the bench despite his impressive performances.
