Real Betis vs Barcelona preview

While Barcelona currently occupies the top spot of the La Liga table, their run at the global stage has been a bit less than impressive. The Blaugrana suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in their last UCL match.

However, Hansi Flick's men will come into this game in top form as they have gone on to win three straight matches, including a 5-3 thriller against Real Betis in the weekend. Barca also has most of their top players available for this fixture.

The situation is worse for Frankfurt both in the Bundesliga and on the global stage.  The Eagles were humbled by RB Leipzig in a 6-0 thrashing over the weekend.

With just one win so far in the Champions League group phase, Dino Toppmoller will have a little time to prove himself and redeem the team. What makes this task harder is playing against an in-form Barcelona side at the Camp Nou.

Ironically, Frankfurt had the better result when they played against the Spanish champions. The German side faced Barcelona twice in the Europa League in 2022.

The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw before the team from Germany stunning Barca and their fans in Camp Nou with a 3-2 victory. However, many things have changed since then, and Barcelona are in a much better condition than their visitors.

Ronald Araujo has requested some time off due to personal reasons. However, he would not still be part of the team due to suspension from the red card he received in the match against Chelsea.

The only new injury concern for Flick is Dani Olmo, who recently picked up a shoulder injury. Pedri is fully back and will likely be assisted by De Jong in the midfield, while Raphinha and Yamal will join Lewandowski or Ferran Torres in attack.

For Frankfurt, both Jonathan Burkardt and Michy Batshuayi will not feature in the match against the Blaugrana due to injuries. With Can Uzum's return from injury, Toppmoller will have to rely on him for creativity.
