Ollie Watkins and Aston Villa stole the show on a record-breaking day in the Premier League on Saturday.

Aston Villa star striker Ollie Watkins was the star of a breathtaking day of Premier League action that produced a record 26 goals across five matches on Saturday.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Watkins contributed three goals as Aston Villa thrashed Sheffield United 5-0 at Bramall Lane.

The Watkins show

In what was a proper goal rush in the Premier League, he produced an outstanding display after he scored one and assisted two goals for Unai Emery’s rampant Villians.

John McGrin opened the floodgate before Watkins doubled their advantage four minutes later as Villa overwhelmed their hosts.

The England international assisted the third and fifth goals to fire Villa to a rare record as five different scorers netted for the Villians for the first time since 2009.

Watkins’ heroics helped Villa cement their place in the top four on a day that witnessed other high-scoring matches.

Adebayo scores in 8-goal thriller

While Watkins stole the show at the Lane, Super Eagles-eligible forward Elijah Adebayo and his newly promoted Luton Town are proving a hard nut to crack.

Adebayo and his group of Hatters won’t stop scoring after a remarkable eight-goal thriller against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

A blistering start to the encounter saw both teams locked at 2-2 after the first half, with another Nigerian. Gabriel Osho on target.

After the break, Carlton Morris and Adebayo fired a quick double to give Luton a 4-2 lead but they could not hold on as Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes netted late to force a share of the spoils.

Adebayo’s goal was his fourth in the last two matches after the hat-trick against Brighton the last time, taking his tally to nine goals this season in the PL.

Eagles smashed by Seagulls

Talking about Brighton, the Seagulls used Crystal Palace to banish the ghosts of that stunning capitulation against Adebayo-led Hatters.

Brighton thrashed Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and their fellow Eagles 4-1 to bounce back in style.
