Asisat Oshoala gets nominated again as France Football releases full list of Ballon d'Or nominees
France Football has released the full 30-woman nominee list for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or award, and Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has made the cut.
The award became a part of the Ballon d'Or in 2018 as the women’s equivalent of the men’s award.

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala played her part as Barcelona departs Mexico with a trophy.
Lyon and Norway’s Ada Hegerberg was the first recipient of the award. Since then, USWNT’s Megan Rapinoe won it in 2019; there was a break in 2020 due to COVID; and Barcelona star Alexia Putellas won it in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Oshoala’s astounding year
The Barcelona forward has been nominated for the award for the second consecutive year in a row.
Oshoala enjoyed immense success with her club side and was part of a Nigerian team that went close to making history at the just-concluded FIFA Women's World Cup.
She won the league and Champions League with Barcelona and reached the Round of 16 of the World Cup with the Super Falcons, who were unbeaten in regular play.

The five-time African Women's Footballer of the Year also had a remarkable individual season despite injury trouble, scoring 21 goals in the league and five in the Champions League.
Full list of nominees
One of the headlining names on this year's nomination list is Aitana Bonmati, Oshoala's teammate at Barcelona, who enjoyed league and Champions League success as well as winning the World Cup as the best player in the competition.
Chelsea's Sam Kerr gets another chance at the award after coming third in two consecutive editions.
Spain's hero at the World Cup, Olga Carmona, makes the list, as does Real Madrid's Linda Caicedo.
